Anywho another strat that has worked for me, simply take the some route and when your fully healed up, just run through the mob, don't worry about aggroing Jayne. The instant that they first lose you, they should ball up on a point thats roughly in the center of that area. Then when your right on about the long/flatbow range to Jayne, who should be pretty close to this ball, pull out a long or flatbow and hit him once. This should get his attention and no one elses. And you simply pull him back. If you do get the attention, don't worry, if you hit them when they were still in the longbow range, it seems that they really aren't that interested in you except Jayne, so simply run away (don't sprint) the other way. You should lose everone except Jayne before you hit the Undergrowth and Dragon Moss groups.
Actually, I've noticed this too, but in some cases, the mob doesn't ball up, but ends up in a straight line, and in order to hit jayne, you have to go into aggro range of the others. I'll keep testing, but my guess is that the best way is probably play with the aggro and see which method works for the specific spawn. Even with 30 dp, you should still be able to run through without dying.
I understand the concept of the run through and aggroing the boss alone. I've used this tactic on other bosses. It seems that Jayne does not want to stay on me this time though. I have only tried it a few times myself, but each time, I get Jayne seperates and she/he starts to follow...then after a few staff attacks she/he runs back. I am inching my way back, its not like I am sprinting away from the place and merely losing the aggro. I will keep at it to see what I am doing wrong.
Great guide btw, I am sure this works well, but theres something wrong with my aggro tactics I guess.
i've gotten the hang of pulling... alls you have to do is pull the mob (BUT NOT JAYNE) back, and then run past them with balanced stance and then sprint, but don't run too far away from Jayne. hopefully HE will follow you while the others don't.

Yes yes. I know, trust me. But its far more amusing to idly add to the 'zomfg firefly is awesome' bit without correcting who Jayne Cobb is and seeing how far people will take it.
Actually, if you take the back path as Vexed Arcanist pointed out, and run past the 53787 dragon moss/kirin/undergrowth (shouldn't kill you, you're a warrior) then you're in a good spot.
Flatbow Jayne directly and run away at normal speed towards the way you came, and the warden mob stops following first. Jayne will follow longer, then you can turn around and kill him. Worked twice in a row for me, and you don't really have to brave any traps. If running space/room gets low, tap sprint and all of the pursuing mobs will drop off and you can try again.
Also of note: using the OP's method, if you can pull Jayne towards the mesmer boss somehow, and have enough room to make the kill there, it's possible on some spawns. Don't run through traps if you don't have to.

Whoo, thanks to the video and some help in this thread. I finally managed to solo him.
Problem is, he hsn't dropped a single thing in the 4 times i killed him :s
Oh well.
Drops:
1. Some purple armor
2. Vera, blue scroll, white bow, 12 tanned hide
3. Money, horn, white armor
4. Jayne's Staff, other drops weren't notable
5. Purple armor
6. Horn, white armor
my drops started to peter off dramatically after the fourth kill. If you have more luxon faction then you spawn at Morning Veil Falls which is nice to zone to get a new spawn or reset spawns.
I found that taking the front way (Normal way) to be more successful.
Jayne isn't in the middle of scattered mobs, and easier to pull. Furthermore, the back spawns glitch up quite often and don't move, giving little space for manouvering.
I've tried this run for a total of 9 hours over the period of four days. I just can't get Jayne alone. When i run through (as someone mentioned) Jayne is allways the first to break aggro and run back to his spot. If i walk through -> Same, but a bit later.
If i try the "let them ball up" method, the entire mob is coming for me. During some really rare occasions i get him to step a bit away from his gang. But the distance he keeps is too low to be of use and as soon as i engange combat he runs back.
Whatever i try i just can't get to aggro him all alone. I tried every method posted in this thread and i'm just incapable of doing this run.
Here are the main problems i've encountered:
Little to no room - One end is camped by the mesmer boss, another one has a spawn of wardens and the third (indirect way) has two Undergrowth spawns.
Whenever i try to pull the wardens without activating sprint, they simply don't break aggro until after i ran into the other mobs around. If i activate sprint they still follow me a great deal with Jayne being the first to break the aggro and run back.
Jayne allways stands in the middle of the mob. Another one of my problems, i can't pull either Jayne or the mob, they allways come as a huge pack. During the seldom occasions when i manage to pull the wardens towards me - when i run back to get to Jayne i just drag them along again, nullifying my effort so far plus the old Jayne breaks its aggro too fast.
So what am i doing wrong?
Lower way:
Run through the mobs until after the mesmer. I try to hit the wardens with a longbow when the one i hit is far enough away from Jayne.
The wardens now run towards me - and i run past them towards (and past) Jayne. Jayne aggros me and almost instantly looses interest, his lousy gang though keeps on following me around for quite some time, even with sprint on they seem to force me to run into the Undergrowth mob until they finally lose interest.
Upper way.
Run past the Undergrowths, no problem. Then... same problem as above.
So basically, what am i doing wrong here? I can't view the movie because filefront seems to be offline to me :/
/edit:
Something i'll try now:
Lure the wardens, then turn AROUND, head back and run the other way around (lower to upper and vice versa).
Well after much practice I started having more success at pulling Jayne BUT this is NOT easy at all. You can sit there maneuvering and jockeying for position for a good half an hour. On top of that I have had 3 Jayne's Staves and 2 scrolls drop in several hours of doing this.
I now do the front way as originally suggested, moreso because it is quicker to get started rather than wait on that first pack going the back way to clear out.
The back way is no problem. The bugs in the mob placement there remain no matter which direction you first go. Sometimes when I go the front way I sprint through to pull Jayne to the back and find myself in a nasty situation with those bugged mobs back there.
The thing that bugs me the most is that damn random Bleeding crap. Obviously the Bramble spirit is bugged, I can get bleeding while just standing around.

That's Lacerate. If you're below 90% HP when a Spirit of Lacerate dies, you start bleeding. On the other hand, if a Spirit of Lacerate is up and covering Jayne, using Sever Artery makes him go down faster due to the extra -2 degen (Bleeding -3 and Boss regen +3 cancel each other out)
Oh, i want to be able to farm that guy for his Hammer, Vera. (And for the record Jayne is a he. Its a homage to the TV show firefly and the film Firefly where one of the characters, named Jayne. In addition both Jaynes have weapons called Vera)
Anyway, i dont have a mes or warrior, which is annoying, but i do have a ranger, elementalist, monk, assassin and a ritualist. I badly want to solo him for the hammer he drops, It goes for about 200k when i last saw it. Not that i would sell it of course

Every time I had the spirits on me I moused over them but never caught when Lacerate dies you start bleeding...how annoying...
After several more hours of trying i admit defeat. Consider this the most incredibly hard run in GuildWars. I've not seen a second one causing me more frustration than this one.
Jayne allways breaks his aggro for me, i can't regain it without re-aggroing his whole mob plus he ALLWAYS runs to the other side of the mob so i have to go through them everytime, with lots of traps and as soon as i start losing his aggro he runs back all the way, no matter what i do.
Plus the Farmcode activated because i zoned so often (died a lot to Traps and with less than 300 hitpoints due do DP, surviving the run through the mob is nearly impossible).
Careful, anyone trying this run. If you found Elitemissions too easy, here is your challenge. This is a lot harder than killing Kanaxai or Urgosz in 5 Man Team.

I can't agree with that. Actually, it is not difficult. The point is the same: Control your run path and mobs. For most situation, the wardens like to put traps around the spirits. Avoid them. Click Jayne and watch his path. I normally run from the messer boss side and only run when Jayne is walking behind most of the mobs.
Note: you can kill Flower Spiritgarden using this same build. He's a lot easier pull and easily accessible if you have more luxon faction (just die) so if you want to practice on him, I'd recommend it. Just make sure to take out the spirits he casts or you'll make no progress.
